About

Aveline Schienke is a Michigan violinist with 15 years of experience in solo, orchestral, and chamber music. She recently completed her Bachelor of Music in Performance at Grand Valley State University and will begin pursuing a Master of Music in Violin Performance at Western Michigan University in the fall, where she will study under Dr. Sophie Tang. Aveline is dedicated to building a career in both classical performance and music education, with a passion for sharing her artistry and teaching future musicians. She is also a violinist with the Holland Symphony Orchestra.

During her time at Grand Valley State University, Aveline studied violin under Dr. Letitia Jap and Dr. Yu Xin. She performed with both the GVSU Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, serving as Co-Concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra and Principal Violinist of the Chamber Orchestra. She also served as orchestra librarian for three years. Aveline received an Honorable Mention in the 2025 GVSU Concerto Competition and was an active member of the GVSU Violin Studio, where she refined her technique, expanded her repertoire, and cultivated her musical artistry.

Aveline has gained extensive chamber and solo experience through participation in the Decoda Chamber Music Festival and the Vivace International Music Festival, learning from esteemed professional musicians from across the country. During the summer of 2026, she will attend the Vilacello String & Piano Festival and return for a second season at the Vivace International Music Festival. In her third year of college, she co-founded The Blue Bridge Trio, a piano trio based in Grand Rapids, performing across the state at summer camps, high schools, and retirement communities with cellist Jake Doctor and pianist Sam Bergman.

Passionate about teaching and community engagement, Aveline has taught private violin lessons since high school, helping students develop technical skills, musicality, and confidence. She previously taught at the Jenison Academy of Music and served as an Assistant Teaching Artist with the West Michigan Symphony’s Tune Up Program, working with beginner string students through group instruction, mentoring, and ensemble coaching. She has also been actively involved with the GVSU Community Engagement Music Project (CEMP), performing for schools, senior centers, hospitals, and community organizations throughout Grand Rapids. As the President and a participant of CEMP, she coordinated with community partners, managed outreach and social media, and assisted with programming and event planning.

She is the founder and host of Tutti Talks, a podcast where musicians share their stories and insights into the world of classical music, reflecting her commitment to connecting and educating communities through music. Aveline is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the American String Teachers Association, and the GVSU ASTA Chapter, where she served as Financial Officer (2024–25) and Social Media Officer (2025–26), creating and publishing engaging content and graphics on social media to promote events and build community engagement.

Following her graduate studies, Aveline plans to audition for professional orchestras, continue performing in chamber ensembles, and establish her own violin studio to teach and inspire the next generation of musicians. She remains deeply committed to both performance and education.
